Sawasya: The Israeli war caused environmental damages in Gaza

GAZA -- Sawasya center for human rights said Wednesday that Gaza Strip is suffering from difficult environmental conditions especially the contamination of dinking water as a result of the ferocity of the last Israeli war and the ongoing blockade.

The center stated that the Israeli war on Gaza had significant environmental impacts on the life in Gaza, where Israel used a large number of internationally-banned weapons and bombed water wells and sewage networks which lead wastewater to get mixed with drinking water causing different health hazards.

The center appealed to the UN and human rights organizations to necessarily and urgently intervene and send experts to Gaza to test the degree of contamination in drinking water and report about its risks to public health in Gaza. [adm/palestine-info]
